Our privacy policy

Shielded NZ Limited, trading as Shielded Insurance Brokers, provides financial advice as an Authorised Body under the Financial Advice Provider licence held by Community Broker Network NZ Limited (“CBN NZ”). We handle your personal information in accordance with the CBN NZ Privacy Policy, which applies across the CBN NZ network and sets out how personal information is collected, used, disclosed and handled under the Privacy Act 2020 and the information privacy principles.

By providing us with your personal information, you consent to it being handled as described in that policy, unless you tell us otherwise. A copy is also available by contacting us.

What we collect on this website

When you request a quote through this website, we collect the details you give us — such as your name, contact details, region, and information about what you want to insure — so a broker can prepare your quote and contact you. We share that information with CBN NZ (whose systems we operate within) and, where needed, with insurers and underwriting agencies to obtain terms for you.

Cookies and online advertising

This website uses cookies and similar technologies — small files stored on your device when you visit.

We use the Google Ads tag, a service provided by Google, to measure how well our advertising works — for example, whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to request a quote — and we may use it to show our advertising to people who have visited this website. To do this, Google sets cookies and collects information such as your IP address, details of your device and browser, the pages you view on this website and whether you arrived from one of our ads.

Google may hold and process this information outside New Zealand, and handles it under its own privacy policy — see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can control this at any time:

• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. This website, including the quote form, will still work.
• Turn off personalised advertising from Google in My Ad Centre.

Information handled in Australia

Shielded NZ Limited is part of the Shielded group, alongside Shielded Pty Ltd, the group’s Australian insurance business headquartered in Queensland. We share people and systems with Shielded Pty Ltd, so the information you give us is held alongside its own and may be stored, accessed and used in Australia by Shielded Pty Ltd staff who support our New Zealand business.

Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected by safeguards comparable to those under the Privacy Act 2020, and that it is only used for the purposes described on this page and in the CBN NZ Privacy Policy.

Seeing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong, by contacting us at info@shieldedinsurance.co.nz or 0800 582 662.
